Ultrasounds imaging in a non-invasive way to view pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and joints in your body. At Advanced Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy in Riverdale, we have speciality ultrasound equipment to help us see beneath the skin’s surface and get a better look at your musculoskeletal system using this equipment. Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to produce pictures of inside the body. This is also called sonography. Using a small transducer probe and applied gel, high frequency sound waves travel from the probe into the body and create an image.
At Advanced Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, with specialized nerve testing equipment and highly trained doctors, we are able to conduct in-house nerve conduction velocity tests. A nerve conduction velocity test (NCV) is a specialized electrical test that is used to determine the strength and adequacy of the conduction of nerve impulses down a nerve in ones body. This test is used to determine if there are any signs of nerve damage or inadequacies of nerve impulse conduction.
Gait is defined as a person’s manner of walking. An abnormality in gait, or how someone walks, may be caused by injury, underlying conditions or issues with the legs and feet. While walking seems like an uncomplicated activity, it is really a result of your entire body working together with strength and coordination. Along with gait, balance plays an important role in a steady stride. Balance disorders can cause a person to feel unsteady or dizzy, even while seated. If you or a loved one is struggling with walking or an abnormal gait and balance, physical therapy can help correct these issues. At Advanced Sports Therapy and Physical Therapy in Riverdale, New Jersey, we have several qualified doctors and physical therapists to help diagnose and treat gait and balance issues.
